Buttercup Land Interactive Game Poster

Board game design by Anna Simmons titled ‘Buttercup LAND,’ featuring pastel colours, salon-themed illustrations, and a winding numbered path.

Buttercup Land Interactive Game Poster — a pastel-toned board game design featuring salon-themed illustrations and a winding numbered path, created to engage and motivate Drybar team members.

Drybar had the great idea for a staff recognition game, and I was brought on to illustrate it; turning their concept into the Buttercup Land Interactive Game Poster. The Buttercup Land project was designed to boost employee engagement by offering a fun, rewarding experience that’s both motivating and sincere.

Designing with Heart and Style

Knowing their employees are visually savvy (and experts at making others feel good) it was crucial to deliver this motivation and appreciation messaging with style and heart. The game poster provided an ideal place for hand lettering and whimsical illustrations to shine.

Creating an Engaging Experience

The poster maps out an imaginary journey filled with real-life rewards, where team members track their progress and enjoy a bit of friendly competition and teamwork along the way. The client wanted a game board they could reuse for different staff reward schemes — my job was to bring it to life in a way that felt fun, warm, and worth coming back to.

Tone of Voice

Using hand-lettered encouragements, a warm visual tone, and a clearly structured path this project helped to support team engagement and brand values.

Branding & Belonging

By incorporating Drybar’s brand colours and themes, I added a sense of belonging that reflects their values of kindness, fun, and positivity. Illustration helped lift it from a functional chart to something a little more special — the kind of thing teams actually enjoy using.

Branded Details

I illustrated recognisable brand elements—like hairbrushes, curlers, hairdryers, and the popular store doormat—in my distinctive style, keeping everything on-brand while adding a playful, personal touch.

This project perfectly suited my knack for crafting artwork that feels spontaneous and lively, yet is meticulously organised beneath the surface - a joyful balance that satisfies my inner perfectionist!
