Working Together: Step By Step

A Step-by-Step Guide to Collaborating with Anna Simmons on Illustration Projects

Embarking on a creative journey with me involves a clear and collaborative process. Here's an overview of the steps we'll take together:

Consultation - Let's discuss your project needs, vision, and objectives. Tell me everything! Email is great so I can keep a written record.

Quotation - I'll prepare a tailored quote for you, based on your project details.

Contracts - Once the quote is approved, we'll formalise with a contract, then get started!

The Brief and Research - Send the full brief, then I'll research for information and inspiration, asking questions for clarity.

Initial Sketch - I'll draft a digital pencil sketch based on the brief and research. This visual will propose a basic composition for your project. Your feedback will help refine it, before proceeding to colour.

Draft Stages - I create the colour palette and build the piece with illustration, texture, and lettering. I share work-in-progress updates, implementing your feedback each time. We’ll have already agreed the number of stages of revision in the contract. But typical examples are:

  • Draft 1: Selection of colors and initial style.

Draft 2: Final draft for any final changes.

  • Draft 1: Selection of colors and initial style.

    Draft 2: Development and refinement.

Draft 3: Final draft for any last modifications.

Approval - After incorporating your feedback on the final draft, we sign off the project.

Final File Delivery - Hi-res artwork files are delivered via email or secure transfer for your use.

Invoices - After I deliver the approved final artwork, I'll send over an invoice. For bigger projects, I kindly ask for a deposit after we sign the contract, with the remaining balance due after the final delivery. I prefer payment by bank transfer.

Need a little extra help after the project's wrapped up? Just give me a shout! As a friendly small business, I'm always here to chat about any follow-ups, tweaks, or additional uses.
