Illustrated World Map of Texas Fans

In collaboration with Alcalde Magazine, I crafted an illustrated world map of Texas fans.

The illustration was to appear on the opening spread of a feature exploring the international audience of fans: University of Texas alumni who regularly tuned in to watch their team- regardless of location or time zones.

Scenes that Can’t be Captured by Camera

A global audience connected by a shared passion is difficult to visualise and even more challenging to capture in a photograph. So how to capture it in a single scene? This is where illustration excels, offering a unique ability to visually represent intricate concepts.

Illustrated World Map of Texas!

I set about creating an illustrated world map that not only accurately represented geographical locations but also captured the energy and excitement of Texas fans.

The subject was an opportunity to use my skills of making complicated look carefree. The layout called for an oval projection world map illustration that needed accurate annotation. With my playful illustration style ensuring that the spread kept a feeling of spontaneity.

Evoking Memories and Emotions

I used bright, lively colours to convey the tailgate party vibes and energy of the Texas fans, incorporating the Texas colours to reinforce feelings of connection. Culturally inspired lettering helped to express the sense of global identity. With a textured day and night sky background adding depth and a tactile feel, to make the scene more engaging and visually rich.

Through this map, I aimed to evoke positive emotions and memories, reminding alumni of their time at the University of Texas and the community they are part of.

Join the Journey

For illustrations that convey information persuasively or represent the unphotographable, I'm eager to hear from you. Let's bring your vision to life with visuals that inspire warmth and forge emotional connections.
